about

In November of 2008, the Dadge/Monty Bent Spoon Duo set out to Vancouver for a variety of recording sessions. The other two sessions that happened on this trip were released as bim-05 and bim-06 on Bug Incision.

This third set, which was actually the first of the three performed, took place a small venue called Casa del Artista, and our set took place alongside that of a trio of Mary Oliver, Torsten Muller, and Francois Houle, and also an ad hoc featuring Robbert Van Hulzen, amongst others.

The duo is in the early stages of developing what would become their current approach. There is still a wide variety of instrumentation, but the playing here is more recognizably 'musical', or at least less mangled.
